Stockholm is the capital of Sweden but with a population of around 1.7 million, it is not only the largest city in Sweden, but also all of Scandinavia.

The city is home to King Carl XVI Gustaf, the King of Sweden and is also a world leader in the technology industry and is considered to be the cultural capital of Scandinavia. One of the city’s most famous residents was Alfred Nobel and as such the city is also famous for hosting the Nobel Prize awards every year.

  1. There is no need for a car here, the light rail and trolleys can get you anywhere. Walking is easy, and you’ll get to see so much more on foot.
Gamla Stan is a great place to wander around. Lots of interesting museums! Tons of shopping if that’s your thing. Great restaurants with many varieties of food (I suggest Sally’s Bar), and tons of nightlife.
