Hot Air Ballooning Albuquerque

by – Ellen Nowakowski, Tour Manager, USA

Albuquerque, New Mexico is widely regarded as the hot air ballooning capital of the entire world and every year thousands of people flock to the town just to go hot air ballooning.

I always say that the hot air balloons are an experience that you can’t define. Any fears or reservations you may have are checked at the door as soon as you exit the van and witness the balloon being blown up and prepped for take off. Once in the balloon, you soar above the desert to get beautiful shots of the valley of the sun from a peaceful perspective that is both relaxing and exciting all at once!

Hot Air Ballooning is offered as an optional excursion on Contiki USA Tours visiting Albuquerque, while you can also go Hot Air Ballooning in Phoenix.

  1. If you haven’t been up in a hot air balloon before this is definetly something to try out. The feeling of being in a hot air balloon is unique, it’s the smoothest flight you’ll ever have – if the wind hits the balloon then it just floats in a different direction, no turbulence! Plus, Albuquerque is known for it’s International Balloon Fiesta, you can go home and tell people you flew in a hot air balloon in one of the best spots in the world for ballooning. You should also get a flight certificate to take home as a souvenir with your flight.
