carry on luggage

Carry on luggage is the luggage that carry onto the airplane with you (ie luggage you do not check).

Many airlines have different restrictions that are applied to varying degrees from airline to airline. Check your airlines web site for their terms and conditions with respect to carry on luggage

Remember to check the restrictions on carrying liquids and sharp objects onto aircraft. Most airlines and air authorities allow liquids and gels to be carried on in containers holding 100ml (3.3oz) or less with these containers carried in a clear 1 liter (quart) sized resealable plastic bag.

Suggested Carry on Luggage Packing List

In your carry on luggage you should pack:

  • Airline tickets
  • Passport
  • Travel insurance details and documents
  • Credit cards
  • Visas
  • Local currency for your destination cities
  • Identification (Student ID, Drivers license)
  • Camera
  • Film/memory sticks/storage devices

  1. Eye masks are awesome, because you cant completely tune out the light on the plane and earplugs or ipod is great as well (especially if you are like me and love to fall asleep to music). Travel pillow is a great choice and if it is your comfortable own pillow even better, dont trust those plane pillows anyway.

  2. Ear plugs!! And a sleep mask. Especially for light sleepers (like me) who find it hard to sleep if there’s any sound or movement.

  4. I went to Greece last year and it’s really hard to carry-on your luggage from the US. We can’t pack any liquids so for more than a few days it’ll be hard to use just the few ounces of say shampoo and lotions and stuff. If you wear contacts…it’s impossible because of the contact solution.

  5. Has anyone just taken carry-on luggage instead of checking it when they’ve gone to Europe? Thanks for the advice on here

  6. i used a travel pillow and found it sooooo handy i used it every where – flying, contiki bus, waiting for flights and even as an extra pillow in hotel rooms. My ipod also got a work out too during the long bus trips where everyone was in sleep mode

  7. If you are unsure as to what you can and cant carry on this is the official site for mainly the US though many countries have adopted these rules. http://www.tsa.dhs.gov/311/index.shtm
Also put your medications in original containers in your carry on. I also recommend earplugs and an eye mask for the flight.

  8. Some other suggestions, although not necessary – Travel pillow, chewing gum (especially for those who have ear problems during flight), book and/or ipod and one change of clothing (air lines do lose luggage occasionally)
